The video for Jack J Hutchinson‘s new single, ‘Hip Slickin‘, is now available to view on YouTube.

The track is taken from his latest record, ‘Paint No Fiction‘, and features Felipe Amorim on drums with Mike Ross on bass and backing vocals. It’s a heavy slab of southern blues rock, that mixes swirling guitars and Hammond organ with growling vocals. The video was directed by Neil Collins.

Explaining the meaning of the track, Hutchinson said: “It’s about a person who keeps making the wrong decisions but can’t necessarily see the impact their actions are having on others.”

Commenting on the song’s influences, Hutchinson said: “I’ve always loved bands like The Black Crowes, Blackberry Smoke and the Allman Brothers Band, and ‘Hip Slickin‘ is definitely in that vein. We were also referencing Delaney and Bonnie in terms of the backing vocals.”

‘Hip Slickin‘ is available to purchase via Bandcamp, featuring an exclusive b-side – the original acoustic demo of the song. It is also available via Amazon, Apple Music, and Spotify.
