Guitarist and singer-songwriter Jack J Hutchinson has kicked off his new album tour with a run of shows supporting legendary guitar player Robin Trower. The dates included sold out gigs in Manchester, Edinburgh, Sunderland and Cambridge, culminating with a packed Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London.
Hutchinson showcased tracks from his forthcoming album including the recent Planet Rock playlisted title track ‘Soul Believer’ and previously unheard songs ‘Shine A Light and ‘Burn’. He also gave a first live airing of the brand new single ‘Rise Again’, which has been named in Classic Rock Magazine’s Tracks of the Week.
His sets have garnered rave reviews, with Jace Media Music‘s report from Shepherd’s Bush Empire saying: “An impressive demonstration of musical economy: no excess, no unnecessary embellishment. Hutchinson achieved something that support acts don’t always manage: he made the audience invest in him. It was a performance that felt spontaneous, honest and refreshingly direct.”
Photogroupie was equally impressed, saying: “The duo played as though they had something to prove, rather than simply waiting for the headline act to arrive. By the time ‘Soul Believer’ brought the set to a close they had won over a sizeable chunk of the room.”

Reviewing Hutchinson’s homecoming show in Manchester, The Rockpit said: “Hutchinson and bassist Greg Smith played like they wanted the room rather than like an opening act seeing out the clock before the main event, and by the time ‘Soul Believer’ closed things out they had a good part of it. Plenty of people around us were talking about him during the changeover, which is the surest sign an opening act has done its job.”

Hutchinson will now embark on a run of headline dates, culminating in a run of album release shows in January in Manchester, Newcastle and O2 Academy Islington.
His new album ‘Soul Believer’ will be released via Eyesore Merch (physical) and Earache Records (digital) on Friday 22 January 2027.
