AIR attended The Future for the Arts at the RSA on March 22nd 2010. Culture policy leaders Ben Bradshaw MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and Jeremy Hunt MP, Shadow Secretary debated the key issues which will shape arts policy and management over the next decade.
Labour have been relatively silent on their arts policy ahead of the election, relying on its funding record as a demonstration of its commitment to the arts. The Conservatives on the other hand have presented their manifesto, The Future of the Arts with a Conservative Government, which is focused on matching ACE grants to encourage philanthropy and private investment in the arts.
