BB King Tribute Concert

This week I took part in the BB King Tribute concert in Chelmsford. Organised by Nick Garner, some 40 musicians took part in what was a cracking event in honour of the big man.

It was a pleasure playing with some of my favourite blues players, including Tom Brundage, Dani Rock, Loris Peverani, John Wright, Trev Turley and Marcus Lazarus. For my set I played BB’s How Blue Can You Get? and If You Let Me Love You, which I recorded a couple of years back.

Hats off to everyone who made the trip. The crowd were fantastic and it was good to catch up with Barry Hopwood (now the proud owner of my CD and a pin badge!), Jim McNeill who has supported my music on his radio show and Mike Lightfoot. Although it went on for six hours or so I could have stayed all night – well at least until the specially brewed BB King ale The Thrill Is Gone ran out!!

It was exactly what music should be – fun and soul rewarding. I’m sure Mr King would have been proud.
