I’d never played this particular venue before and was really impressed by the setup. It’s essentially a cavernous old tram shed with a tall glass ceiling and lots of interesting decor lining the walls.
The place was absolutely heaving, with a few groups evidently out celebrating Ireland’s win in the 6 Nations. We went down really well – I think the foot stomping blues fitting the alcohol fuelled vibe perfectly!
We essentially played acoustic versions of the tracks from the EP (including a brand new instrumental called ‘Autumn’), trying them out to see which ones work best live. It’s interesting hearing them in a different setting and we spoke afterwards about attempting to record one of the acoustic sets for a more pared down live release later in the year. We’ll see…
The promoters ‘Sound Lounge’ were also a nice bunch of people who took care of the acts. We will definitely be working with them again.
This was the last gig for a month or so as we divert our attentions to finishing the EP. I’ve got some more recording sessions this week and next. We are getting there, albeit rather slowly!
Over and out.
